The land & what's on it
Amenities
Bartertowne is intentionally simple. This is primitive, off-grid camping in the woods — the kind where the fire ring is the living room and the stars are the ceiling. Here's what's here, and what you'll want to bring.
On the land
What's here
- Wooded tent & primitive sites. Quiet, tree-shaded spots to pitch a tent or hang a hammock. Find a spot, settle in.
- Communal fire ring. The heart of camp. Where conversation, music, and late-night philosophy happen.
- 24/7 year-round access. No check-in window, no closing date. Summer fires and winter quiet alike.
- Room to build. Open space for projects, gatherings, and whatever the community brings to life.
- Gathering space. A natural commons for festivals, work weekends, and meetups.
Off-grid by design
Bartertowne is a primitive camp, not an RV resort. Come prepared to be self-reliant — that self-reliance is part of the point. Reach out before your first visit and we'll tell you exactly what to expect on the ground today.
Be self-reliant
What to bring
Tent, tarp, or hammock. Sleeping bag rated for the season — NH nights get cold even in summer.
Bring drinking water or a filter. Plan to pack in what you need.
Your own food, a way to cook, and firewood or the means to gather it responsibly.
Weather turns fast in the Upper Valley. Rain gear and warm layers, always.
Headlamp, batteries, a power bank. Assume no hookups.
Pack out what you pack in. Respect the land and the next camper.
